KKR easily overcame Kings XI punjab.Two-time champions Kolkata Knight Riders defeated Kings XI Punjab by six wickets in Match 13 of the Indian Premier League at Punjab Cricket Association IS Bindra Stadium in Mohali today.
Kolkata first restricted Punjab to 138 runs, and then chased down the paltry total in 17.1 overs.
Gautam Gambhir won the toss and invited KXIP to bat first.
After losing Manan Vohra (8) in the fourth over, Murali Vijay (26) and Shaun Marsh (56) stitched a 26-run stand for the second wicket. But after Vijay was bamboozled by a wrong one from Piyush Chawla, Marsh fought a lone battle for the team as the wicket triggered another middle-order collapse.
Wriddhiman Saha (8), David Miller (6), Glenn Maxwell (4), none of them could score in double digits as KKR pegged them back with regular breakthroughs.
By the end of 19th over, KXIP had 120 runs on board. It was only in the last over bowled by Andre Russell, that they collected 20 runs to reach a decent total.
In reply, Robin Uthappa (53) and Gambhir (34) were brilliant as usual as the duo stitched an 82-run stand in just 8.3 overs.
KKR are now on top in the points table with three wins from four matches.
