Bombay High Court gives permission for Maha derby in Pune on May 1

Punekars have good news in these bad times as the Bombay High Court on Wednesday , granted BCCI permission to carry out the game between Rising Pune Supergiants and Mumbai Indians at the Maharashtra Cricket Association in Pune on May 1 as per schedule.

The court had asked for all the games in Maharashtra after April 30 to be moved out considering the severe drought situation in the state. Pune, who were scheduled to host Gujarat Lions on April 29, were then to play Mumbai on May 1. The BCCI appealed to the court stating that it was "practically impossible" for them and the franchise to shift the match to an another venue and make the necessary arrangements at such short notice.

After the court's ruling, 12 matches of the tournament that were initially to be played in Mumbai, Pune and Nagpur, will be moved to Jaipur and Vishakhapatnam which the Mumbai Indians and the Rising Pune Supergiants opted for as their alternate venues respectively.

Pune was also scheduled to host the second qualifier and the eliminator, while final was to be played in Mumbai. With the reallotment of games, the final will now be played at the M Chinnaswamy stadium in Bangalore and the Eden Gardens in Kolkata will host the Pune games.
